Physio Alive

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

At Physio Alive, all of our physios are experienced musculoskeletal clinicians, each with their own areas of expertise and together we offer a comprehensive service.

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy involves the assessment, treatment and management of issues affecting the bones, soft tissues, joints and often nerves. Such issues may impact your movement, strength, function, or lead to pain. All of our physiotherapists are experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapists who can manage conditions such as, but not limited to:

Back and neck pain (both acute and persistent)

Muscle strains and ligament sprains

Osteoarthritis-related pain and stiffness

Headaches, including Watson technique trained physiotherapists

Whiplash associated disorder

Shoulder pain and injuries

Scoliosis

Tendinopathy (such as Achilles, patellar, gluteal or rotator cuff)

Plantar fasciitis

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) (jaw) pain

Post surgical rehabilitation such as knee, hip, shoulder replacements or arthroscopies

Inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or polymyalgia

Rehabilitation following medical illnesses, accidents or surgeries such as oncology treatments, fractures, heart surgery, asthma to name a few

Thorough assessment and treatment of your immediate issue is our priority, but we also consider potential contributing factors in order to reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Each physiotherapist uses a range of approaches such as movement and exercise, hands-on manual therapy, taping or other temporary supports, dry needling, neural mobilisations, body awareness and mindfulness and education about posture, ergonomics, pain biology and movement dynamics.

In addition to our 1:1 services in our rooms or gym, we also offer over 40 physio led, group based sessions per week across our two locations. These can be a useful adjunct to fast track your recovery and get you back to optimal function. See our group session page for more information or please call our friendly reception staff for more information.

Sports Physiotherapy

Physio Alive has long been associated with sports physiotherapy and we are proud to have a number of staff with post-graduate qualifications and many years of experience in this field. Sports Physiotherapy is a specialised area in which therapists have specific knowledge of the demands placed on our bodies during different sports. Acute, chronic and overuse injuries from all sports can affect your everyday life as well as impair your training and performance. Our sports physiotherapists can assist with many conditions including:

All acute and chronic sporting injuries

All adolescent sporting injuries

Knee, ankle and shoulder reconstructions

Sports-related shin pain or tibial stress syndrome (commonly referred to as shin splints)

Tendinopathy (such as Achilles and patellar)

We place a high value on the rehabilitation of all sports injuries to best minimise the risk of re-injury and return to full performance. Our physiotherapists Matt, Janhavi and Megan each hold post-graduate qualifications in sports physiotherapy, with Brea, Yasmin, Erica, Courtney, Jessica L, and Jessica W all experienced in treating sports injuries as well.

Physio Alive is proud to sponsor and treat members a number of local sporting teams including Southern Tigers Basketball, Southern Athletic Club, McLaren Districts Football Club, Aldinga Cricket Club, Myponga Netball Club and McLaren Vale Bowling Club.
